The SKIPPER v Dele ALLI
'Dele Alli may be the name on the lips of Tottenham and England fans after a series of fantastic performances, but statistics form Oulala reveal that Mark Noble, his opponent on Sunday, has had a more successful season.

19-year-old Alli, signed from MK Dons for £5 million in January, has adapted swiftly to life in England’s top flight since joining the Spurs first-team during the summer. He earned call-ups to Roy Hodgson’s two most recent England squads, capping an exceptional run of form with a 25-yard strike against France on Tuesday.

He has earned praise from both his international and club manager’s, with Mauricio Pochettino describing him as “a really good player, very young but very mature” after Alli and Eric Dier commanded a midfield battle against Santi Cazorla and Francis Coquelin in the North London Derby earlier this month.

However he may face one of his sternest challenges this season in Sunday’s match against West Ham, where he will come up club captain Mark Noble.

In 12 starts this season Noble has average more successful passes per game than the 19-year-old, has forged 11 chances to Alli’s nine and is the only one of the duo to have registered a Premier League assist this season. The West Ham man’s attacking credentials are further enhanced by his pass accuracy statistics, with Noble successfully completing 86 per cent of his passes as compared to the 78 per cent of his opponent on Sunday.

Alli though, does seem to have been a more impressive defensive force so far this season than Noble, though both have found themselves often deployed in deep-lying midfield roles. The Spurs man can point to an impressive 68 per cent of tackles won and 28 interceptions, a tally he has achieved in one fewer game than Noble.

One area in which Noble and Alli are neck and neck is in front of goal, where both have scored two goals – though the youngster hits the target twice as often with a shot accuracy of 67 per cent.

With only goal difference separating West Ham and Tottenham in the Premier League table ahead of Sunday’s game both sides will be hoping their midfield mastermind comes out on top in what is likely to be a tightly contested London derby.'

Looking forward to the skipper bossing things at the Lane once again on Sunday.

Noble was subbed because he was losing his cool and likely to be sent off. He does this a lot. He isn't a captain and shouldn't be starting when Song is fit to play.

Re: The SKIPPER v Dele ALLI
I thought it was pretty clear that Noble was subbed because he was on a yellow card, is going to miss the next game due to suspension and so it was an ideal time to give Song some game time. The fact that he has been subbed as captain a few times may have also happened when he was on a yellow and Bilic probably doesn't want to risk him getting a second yellow, something that his position is at a higher risk of.

Stats tell half the story! What about that stat that Noble has already been substituted more this season than the entire time under fat sam? Can't be playing that brilliantly then to be subbed as captain so often?
He's a good Premiership player end of...

I may get slated for this but I didn't think Dele Alli was that great yesterday, and he acted like a bit of a knob getting involved with Noble and getting booked. Dembele was Spurs best player for me.

I reckon the extent of Fordy's watching of West Ham amounts to the few minutes MOTD show

Fordy
He could play lanzini in there and play either Zacatecas or Antonio although it doesn't look like he fancies him at all
Canada
I think he could easily play that position and the bonus is if you need to tighten he can also drop in and make it a three...obviously he's not as creative as Payet but he has exceptional quality on the ball

I very much agree.

(But not sure he ever played as a number 10, there was Downing remember. Put Lanzini there.)

Song controls games. He walks into the team for me.....If fit.

I don't think we have a choice in him filling in for Payet do we?

LOL NORF.

Re: The SKIPPER v Dele ALLI
I don't think anyway should "make way for song"
He needs to earn his place if the song that played the first half of the season turns up he will be in the team if the fella that played after xmas turns up he'll be lucky to get on the bench
Personally I'd play him in that No10 I think he struggled last season because he got played deeper in the second half of the season to make way for Nolan
His strength is his eye for a pass and I think he could easily fill the void left by Payet

And considering the quality we have in the middle of the park I'm guessing he needs a bit more than luck to hold a place down and be captain

You're right Norf. I mean no manager would play a player just cos he's the captain would they? I mean even if there are better players in the team?

*thinks back to Nolan*
